Responsibility & Sustainability

We chose to build differently – with respect for nature, materials, and you

At Sky View Igloo, we believe that how we build is just as important as what we build.

Each igloo is crafted as  a complete module in Posio, Lapland — a place where sustainability, local expertise, and high-quality craftsmanship come together.

Our building partner is a young local entrepreneur who shares our values: care, responsibility, and a deep connection to nature.

We believe in supporting the next generation of local builders — people who work with theirvhands, with heart, and with respect.

The structures are built in controlled conditions to minimize material waste and maximize precision. Once complete, they are transported to Ollerovaara and gently placed on light foundations — without deep digging or heavy impact on the landscape.

Instead of months of construction in the forest, the igloos arrive ready — blending into the surroundings quietly, lightly, and with care.

Our material choices reflect this same mindset. We didn’t choose them just for how they look — but for how they feel, and how they behave in nature.

CLT wood panels store carbon and provide a breathable, durable structure. Geothermal heating keeps the igloos warm efficiently and in harmony with the environment.

One of our most intentional choices is aspen wood — a light, non-toxic, and breathable Finnish
material. Its soft scent, warm tone, and calming texture bring a sense of peace and connection into the space.

Aspen isn’t just beautiful — it’s renewable, minimally processed, and leaves a gentle footprint.

We’ve also supported Finnish design by including details like Woodio sinks, made from wood chips — a by-product of the forestry industry. These elements aren’t just refined — they give new value to materials that would otherwise go to waste.

We don’t build to impress.

We build to honour — nature, design, and the guest who comes in search of something real.
